Well, I like it but I dont.
IMO:

some of my pro's include; a new system and new world. New adventures, new skills, new armor types, and I really like the monument aspect.

some of my con's include; skill balancing act to deal with more levels, the spam will probably be worse (which really needs dealt with), the massive army campaigns will most likely be a nightmare for dialup users

I quit playing guild wars 3 months ago because of the spam and other things that go on in the game, but have been watching to see if it improves. I went to another MMO but am waiting patiently for GW to get better. With a new one coming out, I hope the original will still be supported since it was paid for already. If not, gl and hf to all in the new edition. Maybe a spellchecker would be a nice addition lol.

I havent got the mag yet but one thing they so desperatly need to get right is the quest reward system. If felt when factions came out that you would never make a character in tyria just becuase it took so long. Ascalon is basically dead these days and i really love Tyria as a whole because of how well they balanced the different enviroments.

Soloution:

So what they need to do is make quests in GW2 Have even rewards so that people cant just skip the main points in game. So like every quest should grow in exp. Nooby area lvl 100xp-500xp. Mid low lvl areas 500-1000xp. Mid lvl areas 800-1300xp. Mid high lvl areas 1000-2000exp High Lvl areas 2000-10000 exp (10000exp is really the hard quests like in Fow and UW .

Also the rewards in skills in tyria were great seeing sometimes we were a bit poor plus the weapons/items rewards but these weapon rewards need to have some uniquenees so that not everyone from that quest looks the same or has the same skills.

Armour needs to be way more costumizable!!!! So theres not 10 people in one area with pl8 mail etc.

yeah, that'd be awesome if they made it customizable like guiuld capes. you can dye the primary areas one color, secondary areas another, and then have a detail color. that'd be pretty cool. and if they made dye-designs, like tie dye or something :P

Anyway, that's an example of Blizzard crapping out on the amount of artwork/customization, it doesn't prove that more races mean less customization. NCSoft has some good examples of customization - CoH/CoV and Lineage. Lineage has mulitple races, too, though I'm not a fan of their artwork, nor the game itself.

Anet has a great art team behind them, and I don't doubt at all that there will be even greater customization than any of those other games.

Meh... Diablo II was a landmark for its time. It consumed almost 4 years of my highschool life. As fun as it was, you can only grind the Cow Level so many times before you simply can't do it anymore.

Anet 'does' have a great art team... but the artists themselves do not really determine how many models will be produced... or how their time is spent creating those models... It's a lot of work to make a visually impressive game like GW


~character features (hair faces etc...)
~several sets of armour for each class (and now race)
~weapons/items
~landscaping
~monsters

the task to make an all new game with unique sets of all of these is daunting enough... they will have to divide their time between all of these to create enough variety to make everything interesting...

...my point is that adding new races is going to take more time ...making more models...(they cannot use the same armour set skeletons in the graphic program they are using because obviously charr have a different anatomy than humans) ...to get the same variety...unless they hire a bunch of artist... which I believe they 'are' looking.

...I used WoW because its the most played mmo out there but their are plenty of other examples out there... CoH is a poor example as the 'entire' game is based around the heroes/villians and there is little else in the game to make it visually impressive. I have not played liniage... but the track record of rpg games speaks for itself.

Wait, I'm confused, how is CoH/CoV a bad example of customization? Who cares what the game is about, it's an MMO and has massive amounts of customization. Point is, it can be done, and it has been done. The guys at Anet have great examples out there and I'm sure they know that people like to personalize their characters.

The different elements that make up the outfits the heroes wear in the game are a great basis for an armor system. Something a lot more intense than what we have now. If they have models that can stretch and mold to various shapes, it would be a lot easier to produce multiple pieces of armors for every race. As it is now, it would be way too much work, since the armor is modeled specifically to the character models - which are of course specific to the class.

Also, in CoH/CoV, you can alter every little shape of the character model's face, body type, size, etc. This creates very unique characters, and nearly unlimited options for customization. I don't see any reason why they couldn't implement that into GW2, as well. The different races just multiply that severely high number of possible modifications.

That doesnt mean they cant make the armour and stuff way better all they have to do is bring some of the old designs form gw1 and change them a bit so there is a bit of history too . Anyway they said its not coming out till another 2 years so that uddles of time to make costimazation better.

I don't want to take your hopes. But in interviews, it has been stated, that Guild Wars is now seven years old. Considering Prophecies has been released roughly two years ago, that makes the time they had to design it beforehand five years.
I don't know how you feel about it, but to me "two years" doesn't sound like too much.

But, well, as I said, multiple times... if anyone can do it, it's ANet.

This is what one of the things I personally worry about. There really isn't no reason why they can't take all the Human choices we've got currently (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, North?) and apply them to choices we have available to us as Humans.

Plus, the reasoning why a Caucasian Tyrian has the facial feature of a Elonian is because that was his/her "great great grandma"

The one thing I beg that they do not add into GW2 is the unique item attribute. Example: diablo II weapons system for "rares". The GW system of making everything pretty much the same was so much better. Rare skins and what not are cool for the people who wanna spend 10+ hours a day playing guildwars , but what about us, the ones who work and have families? I have like 3-4 hours max a day to play :S. It's alot better when a game is about skill and not about time played. :S.. Considering you see all these morons with 1,000s of hours on their accounts and still can barely play the game. Imagine throwing them items better then everyone elses... disaster. Revenge of the newbs.

Just got my hands on Finnish gaming magazine called Pelit that has article about GW2.
Few new concept arts that I haven't seen before: one is a portrait of young Sylvari girl that looks bit like a crossing from a wood elf from Tolkien mythology & fairy - bit like tieflings from Forgotten Realms but without pointy ears ...

Not much new in the article except these: (Not sure if these have been already mentioned - so many articles coming out every week ) player can have only one NPC (sidekick/hero/hench?) while questing and in guild battles if there's someone with higher level, others will temporarely gain that same level.

Its supposed to follow the whole WOW format.. but we have 2 years, they will add and cancel a lot of what they said now.. we shall see the end results

If after GW 2 is released, ANet had *minor updates in GW 1 that gave you quests or items in GW 2..., say, cause something in GW 1, have it shown in the monument, and that would sort show you a different area, (say, instead of verdant hills that area now shows charred hills) for it's connected character in GW 2, or unlock an area (or quest! or NPC! or just a minor detail or easter egg, like gwen's flute in Prophecies! (explain it off as alternate history). That'd give both games replayability, and more reason to create more than one character! And have the areas change in real-time (or maybe just at once per day intervals) in GW 2 as per the border of the Luxons and Kurzicks, or something like that!
